On Wednesday, November 5th, 2025, Flora Norvegica will be launched – a brand-new Norwegian gin developed in collaboration between Atlungstad Håndverksdestilleri and Gin Forum Norway.

The result is a gin that captures the taste of Norwegian nature – from juniper berries and spruce shoots to bog myrtle and angelica – distilled on potato spirit made at Atlungstad.

The initiative began in the spring of 2024, when members of Gin Forum Norway wanted to create their own gin. After a brainstorming session and a draw, five enthusiasts were selected to develop the product together with the Atlungstad team and master distiller Halvor Heuch.

Throughout the autumn, the flavor profile, ingredients, bottle design, and name took shape – in a process that combined pure gin geekery with professional craftsmanship.

“We wanted to make a gin that truly tastes like Norway,” says the group behind the project. Most of the botanicals used are grown and harvested in Norway, and the spirit is made from Norwegian potatoes distilled at Atlungstad Distillery. The name Flora Norvegica came naturally – a tribute to Norway’s own botanical heritage.

The final recipe, known as #3 during development, combines fresh juniper, spruce shoots, bitter orange, coriander, sweet cicely, bog myrtle, lemon, and angelica seeds – all distilled and macerated into a balanced, aromatic gin at 43% ABV.

The design of the bottle and label became a journey of its own. The group chose a new bottle shape that posed some technical challenges, but these were elegantly solved by the design team – resulting in an expression that perfectly reflects the blend of tradition and modern craftsmanship.

Flora Norvegica will be launched in Vinmonopolet’s special order selection (bestillingsutvalget) on November 5th, 2025, and can be ordered to all outlets across Norway.

“This project has been driven by enthusiasm, collaboration, and a love for gin. We’re proud to put Norwegian nature and craftsmanship at the center – in true Atlungstad spirit,” says Atlungstad’s managing director, Romain Jourdan.
